Some Tips on Using Skype

  • Be sure that you have no other audio applications open when you are trying

to use Skype: the settings for Skype and other applications may interfere with

    each other.

  • For best results, use a headset with both earphones and a microphone.

This will usually result in better sound quality and less background noise.

  • Be sure that your audio preferences (both in Skype and on your

computer) are set for the audio-in and audio-out that you will use (ideally

    a headset).

  • Check the audio level when you contact the person (people) with whom

    you will be talking.

  • Pause briefly before you respond to the person (people) with whom

you are talking; if you don't, you may end up speaking at the same time.

  • If you are able to make contact by Skype but one person in the conversation

cannot hear the other(s), remember that you can also use text chat in Skype.
